Seattle traffic is its own weather system. A 30-minute lesson across town can cost an hour in the car, every week, for years. So our teachers do the driving. They come to your house, sit down at your piano or on your couch, and teach.

Lessons built around your kid

Most lessons start with a method book. We start with the kid. Some want to learn the song that’s been stuck in their head all week. Some want to make things up. Some really do want to read music. We work across five paths: reading music, improvising, chord charts, ear training and songwriting. Then we lean into whatever lights your kid up. We call it finding your musical fingerprint.

Teachers who actually play

Every Fingerprint teacher is a working musician and a multi-instrumentalist. They can teach a kid to read a page, and they can teach them to hear a song and play it back, or improvise over it. That combination is rare, and it’s the whole reason we exist.
